Question A zookeeper counted the heads of the animals in a zoo and found it to be 80. When he counted the legs of animals he found it to be 260. If the zoo had only parrot and zebra, how many zebra were in the zoo?
Answer

Let the number of Zebras = x

Then the number of Parrots = 80 - x

Each Parrot has 2 legs and each zebra has 4 legs.

therefore, total number of legs = 4x + 2(80 - x) = 260

so, 4x + 160 - 2x = 260

=> 2x = 100

so x = 50

Thus the number of Zebras in the zoo = 50
